Chesapeake Bay Diving Center (CBDC) offers beginning, advanced and leadership dive training using the internationally recognized dive training system from Scuba Schools International (SSI). Under the guidance of a professional SSI Instructor, you will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enjoy a lifetime of underwater exploration. Have a question?  Check out our student Q&A section.

You begin your diving adventure with the Open Water Diver course.  To become a certified diver you will complete the Open Water Diver course.  You will participate in hands-on classroom training, scuba skills training in an Olympic sized swimming pool and then perform five dives in the clearest lake in Virginia.  With SSI's home study approach, you will be able to minimize your time in the classroom allowing for more time in the water developing ability and comfort.  In multiple pool and open water diving sessions, you will learn and practice scuba skills with SSI's exclusive Comfort Through Repetition teaching method.

Haven't been in the water for a while?  Take a Scuba Skills Update Class!  Recapture that feeling of total confidence by reviewing the diving skills you learned in your Open Water Diver course.  Your Update includes a 3-hour pool session with one-on-one instruction to practice and review your scuba skills.

Most Open Water Divers will enroll in a Continuing Education courses to learn exciting diving skills like night diving and shipwreck diving!  Even if you were certified through another agency you can enroll in SSI Continuing Education courses for advanced Diver Certifications:
