January 2008 Dive Club Meeting

Durso will describe their experience diving with John Chatterton, host of
Deep Sea Detectives on the History Channel. Al and Maura joined John
Chatterton for a charity dive in Morehead City with Olympus Dive Center.
The divers visited the wreck of the U-352 and were able to spend plenty of
time swapping stories. Rumor has it that Maura got the majority share

life (most turtles ever), perfect plane flights (no lost luggage) and great
company to make this Cozumel trip one of our best ever. We are busy

RSTC Members State their
Positions regarding Agency-Neutral On-line Training -
Posted 4/6/06 At a recent meeting, the members of the Recreational
Scuba Training Council determined it was important to provide collective
clarification regarding agency-neutral on-line training programs. Over
the past two to three years a number of websites not affiliated with a
training agency have launched on-line scuba training programs. On these
sites, the customer is lead to believe that all training agencies will
accept these programs to meet their academic requirements for scuba
training. This is not correct. Because of concerns about the
educational validity of these programs and the inability to monitor the
quality of education and services, as well as liability and insurance
issues, each RSTC member organization has independently determined it cannot
accept these non-affiliated training programs to meet its academic
requirements. Before customers sign up for any on-line training
program, they should first check with the retail store, instructor or
training agency they wish to receive certification through to verify if that
on-line program is acceptable for meeting the training agencyıs
requirements. The RSTC consists of Scuba Schools International,
International Diving Educators Association, Professional Association of
Diving Instructors, Professional Dive Instructors Corporation, Scuba Diving
International and Young Menıs Christian Association and meets
throughout the year to deal with issues involving training in the scuba
industry. The RSTC is also the Secretariat for the ANSI Committee Z-375,
Scuba Diving Training Standards and Safety |

Roatan Trip a Great Success -
Posted 2/7/06 The Roatan trip was a great success! The diving was
amazing and the dive operation was 1st rate! We will have pictures at
the Feb 21st
dive club meeting. The trip was so good in
fact that Michelle sent out the notice for a Feb 2007 return trip last week.

Why You Should Stick With Recognized Name Brand

A friend of ours came into the shop to get an older (10+ years) Dacor
regulator serviced. Since CBDC services only what we sell, Aqualung
and Apex regulators, we put her in touch with the local authorized Dacor
service center. The CBDC manager called the dealer to make sure that
the reg could be serviced and the Dacor dealer told her that he could not
get parts for any Dacor regulator that was more than 5-7 years old!
Aqualung regulators that are 20 years old (Conshelf) are still routinely are
brought to CBDC for service which returns them to their new performance
specifications. The same is true for all of the later model regulators
as well. Stick with life support system companies that have a
reputation for quality, service and stability in the market place! See
